Just when you think you know pizza in NYC and you have your all your favorites picked out, in steps the new kid on the block. In this case, the new kid is Baker’s Pizza. Located on Avenue A between 12th and 13th Street in Manhattan, Baker’s is hands down one of my top slice joints in all of Manhattan.
If you swing by Baker’s on the weekends at night, the line is just about out the door. The great thing about Baker’s is because it’s still the new kid on the block, the word isn’t out yet and during the rest of the week there’s usually not a crazy long line, yet. That’s about to change because once you go in and see the variety of slice options, you just flat out want to tell everyone on the planet. Hello Instagram!
Now my two favorite slices here are the pepperoni and the mushroom slices. Those by far are my favorite, but with so many options, you may find your own favorites.
What I really love about Baker’s slices is that the crust is just perfect to fold like a real NYC slice. More importantly, the bottom of the crust is burnt just enough to give it that awesome toasty and crunchy texture that is a must for a truly great NYC slice. Baker’s definitely does it right.
Did I mention that Baker’s also has a vintage Donkey Kong arcade game in their shop? Yep, that’s awesome.
So if you want to be part of the NYC pizza avant garde, do yourself a favor and stop by Baker’s Pizza in Alphabet City. You’ll soon be hooked and will be telling your friends, “Oh yeah, I knew about Baker’s Pizza from day one!”. Don’t worry, I won’t tell them the truth.
Hey, feel free to share your experience with Baker’s Pizza in the comments below. Enjoy!
